This blog is the travel diary of a backpacker who decided to jump into the unknown: solo, carrying a backpack bigger than her own back, a whole lot of excitement, and just a pinch of craziness. Because, really, what’s life without a little risk?
I always dreamed of traveling across Asia, but let’s be honest: it was one of those ideas that sound epic… until you realize you have no clue where to even start. A “someday” dream that slowly turns into “when I have enough money,” “when I learn how to find my way without looking like Dora the Explorer,” or “when my grandparents stop freaking out every time I mention the word ‘trip.’”
Until one day, I looked in the mirror and thought:
“If I don’t do it now, then when? When I’m covered in wrinkles and my knees hurt after 5,000 steps?”
•Expectations vs. Reality•
And so here I am, ditching the excuses and embracing a mix of excitement and sheer terror—because let’s be real, the unknown is always a bit daunting (especially when you have the sense of direction of a cactus and a tighter budget than 2000s low-rise jeans).
But if there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that dreams don’t wait. And this is where my grandparents come into the picture (they’re going to kill me).
I’ve always been their “brave one”, and they’ve always been my heroes, my biggest fans… well, until they find out about this trip. Not because they haven’t traveled a lot themselves, but because my way of traveling gives them the chill ♣
• More than just a blog: my lifeline •
(And my family’s excuse to stop calling me every single day)
I won’t lie: the idea of travelling solo makes me a little nervous.
Maybe it’s the language barriers in some countries or the fact that I even get lost in my own city.
But one thing I love is throwing myself into the adventure. Because solo travel isn’t just about discovering new places; it’s about discovering yourself… and, bonus points, proving to my mom that I don’t need to ask where the exit is.
This backpacker travel diary is my window to the world, but also my survival strategy, so my family and friends don’t call me every two days asking:
“Are you okay?” “Do still you have money?” “Are you alive?”
The idea is simple: instead of repeating the same update to everyone, I just share it here. Efficient, right?
what can you expect?
Everything raw, no filters, no bs
The emotions. Because travelling is so much more than pretty pictures.
The challenges. Like figuring out how to order food without ending up with something I don’t even know how to eat.
The funny stories. Because, with my talent to mess things up, they’re basically inevitable.
Practical tips. So that if you ever decide to do something similar, you don’t end up selling handmade bracelets in Thailand to pay for your flight home.
I write for myself, but above all, I write for you. So that if you’ve ever dreamed of doing something like this, you feel inspired to take the leap… or at the very least, have a good laugh at my misadventures. Because life is already too serious not to have a sense of humour
SO, IF YOU’RE STICKING AROUND, WELCOME TO MY LITTLE ORGANISED CHAOS! i PROMISE ADVENTURES, REFLECTIONS AND PLENTY OF MOMENTS WHERE YOU’LL THINK:
“That would totally happen to me too!”
