Here’ comes another delicate topic. There are houses where you just coexist peacefully… and then there’s my shared house, which is so much more than that. It’s not just a place to split rent and wonder who keeps sneaking your milk from the fridge (well, maybe that too…). This house even has a name and its own Instagram account. Yep, that iconic.
But above all, it holds a big, slightly crazy family inside.
Because here, it’s not just about sharing a roof—it’s about sharing the little things. It’s morning races to see who leaves for work first (well, at least that’s how I live it). We bond over fish Mondays and “Love Island” marathons (yeah, I know it doesn’t quite match our principles, but hey, the laughs make it worth it).
We’ve also got football matches I used to watch thinking, “What am I doing here?”—but now, I genuinely enjoy them just for the vibe they create. Because it’s never just about football; it’s the perfect excuse for gathering friends, both from inside and outside the house.
That one phrase, “Girl, make yourself at home” was repeated so many times I actually started believing it. We’re themed parties that leave lifelong stories, and a home where there’s always someone to share a coffee and a deep, soul-filling chat with.
Over all this time living together, this house has taught me a lot. That the best connections spark from the everyday stuff, that trust is built on little details, and that even if each of us has our own life, somehow, here we’ve found a balance where everything just clicks.
And speaking of balance… I’ve got to share this. One day, at a festival, we decided to “baptize” each other with a word that summed us up. So, get ready: this shared house is made up of none other than Leadership, Vitamin, Awareness, and Balance. Now, the real question is—when I finally reveal my identity, will you be able to guess who’s who?
But here’s where the real dilemma kicks in. Because it’s not just my house—it’s my family. And while I’m all excited about the adventure ahead, I’m also facing one tricky decision about my room…
Should I keep my room and keep paying rent while I travel? (If my backpacker budget allows it, this would be the ideal plan. It means I’d have peace of mind knowing that, no matter what happens, my home will be waiting for me when I return.)
Should I sublet my room temporarily until I come back? (That way, I’d still keep it and be sure my home is waiting for me… plus, I’d have to find someone who matches our particular brand of craziness and helps keep the spirit of the house alive while I’m gone.)
I still don’t know what my decision will be, but what I do know is that the moment I step out, I’ll miss all of this… My shared house, even the dogs hair flying around everywhere. Okay, maybe not the hair so much… but you get the idea.♥
